It’s the kind of thing that you might think might be a joke, but it could be the biggest piece of advice you ever receive.
It’s a sentiment that has been widely shared by people across the world, and the reason for this is simple.
“Minimalism is a really big idea that’s going to be around for a long time.
There’s a lot of people out there that want to get to a minimalist lifestyle and are struggling to do it, and it’s a really important thing to understand,” says Adam.
“When I first started getting interested in minimalism, I was like, ‘I can’t do this, I can’t fit this into my life’.”
Adam is a 22-year-old who has been playing Minecraft since the game’s launch in 2010.
But it wasn’t until he started working in the game industry that his life really took off.
“I’ve been playing for five years now, I’ve been in the gaming industry for a little over two years now.
It was the only thing I had,” he says.
“I didn’t have a job when I was a teenager, so I didn’t know what it was like to make a living.”
Then I got into Minecraft and I started working at a studio.
“It was actually a really small studio at that point, and I was pretty much on my own.”
So I was always trying to find something to do and I’d been working for about two months before I even got an offer from the studio to come in.
“When I went in I was really bummed because I had no idea what I was doing.
I wasn’t getting any work done, and they were just not doing any work.”
But then I realised that the studio was doing something really good, they were working with other teams, they had a huge fan base and they had the most talented people.
“All of that really gave me a boost.”
In 2014, Adam joined a small team at the studio called Quarryworks.
It quickly became clear that Minecraft wasn’t the only game that was helping him to break into the industry.
“Minecraft was really the first game that really pushed me to be a more professional developer, and that really helped me get a lot more work done in a very short amount of time,” he said.
“At that point I was still doing the same things that I was playing Minecraft for, but now I had a team that I could really put my time into and help out with.”
In 2016, Quarryworked was bought by Mojang, who now produce Minecraft and Minecraft-related content.
Adam says he is happy to be part of Mojang’s team, but says that they have been a big help in his career so far.
“For me personally, I’m just super grateful that they’re buying it and I’ve got a really good team around me.”
That’s just a huge part of the motivation to keep going and keep working at it.
“And if they’re not there to help me out, I just want to make sure that I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing and making it as good as I can and I’m confident that they can help me do that.”

And now the developer says that the success of the game has inspired him to become a better developer himself.
“My career has been pretty much driven by Minecraft and it has been so inspiring to me that it’s helped me to grow into what I am today,” he explains.
“There’s so many people in the Minecraft community that are really amazing, and people that have worked with me in the past and have helped me out in a way that’s helped other people to go through the same journey.”
But Adam admits that it wasnít always this way.
“There was a time when I had to take the blame for not getting work done.
And when I went back to the studio after that and was like ‘I should have done this a lot earlier, I should have had this job’.”
But I just went to work and kept working, and just kept pushing forward.
“Adam credits his time at Quarry with helping him “learn to do things differently”.”
I think that I have the best job in the world and that I’ve done a really, really good job of just being myself and trying to learn from other people’s mistakes and mistakes of mine,” he explained.”
If I’ve had a bad day or if I’ve missed something and I want to know how they could have done it better, I go to them, and hopefully they can teach me
