The US military is ramping up the hiring of thousands of new workers in the wake of the sequestration.

On Monday, Lockheed Martin said that it would hire about 1,000 workers in 2019, while Boeing said it would add 2,000 jobs.

Lockheed also said it was hiring a “small number of employees” to work on the F-35 fighter jet and F-16 fighter jet, as well as “other projects.”

The announcement comes after Boeing and Lockheed Martin both said on Monday that they would start adding workers in 2017 and 2018.

The Defense Department has been struggling to keep up with a demand for more employees, particularly in the military.
